What does this workflow record at each stage of the weld job setup?

The workflow records the original setup submission — including process, material, filler wire, gas, amps, volts, travel speed and photos — as a record with a reference number and status. As the record moves through Setup Review, Reassign, Adjusting and Approved for Production, each status change, the workshop supervisor's assigned welder, and the welding supervisor's decision and comments are captured on the record's timeline. Any settings updated by the welder during the adjustment loop are also saved to the record.

Who is involved in reviewing and approving a weld job setup?

A workshop supervisor is given a task to assign a qualified welder if the original welder is not qualified for the procedure. A welding supervisor is given a task to check the recorded settings against the welding procedure and record a decision with comments. If changes are needed, the welder is given a task to update the amps, volts, travel speed and gas flow before the setup returns to the welding supervisor for re-check.

What happens if the welder is not qualified for the procedure?

When the request form answer to the qualification question is 'Not qualified', the record's status is set to Reassign and a task is created for the workshop supervisor to assign a qualified welder. Once the workshop supervisor completes this task, the qualified welder they assign is saved to the record. The setup then proceeds to the welding supervisor's settings check.

How does the supervisor check-and-adjust loop work?

The welding supervisor's decision routes the record: an 'Approved' decision moves the record to Approved for Production, while a 'Changes needed' decision sets the status to Adjusting and creates a task for the welder to update settings. This loop can repeat until the welding supervisor records an approved decision.
