What is an operation?

An operation is one record created against a workflow. Each time a workflow runs — one form submission, one request, or one order — that’s one operation, no matter how many steps the workflow has. Importantly, an operation is the record itself, not the steps inside it: a workflow with 3 steps or 30 steps counts as 1 operation per record, and a record that moves through 20 steps is still just 1 operation — not 20. The steps inside a workflow are never counted as operations; only the record that flows through them is.
